About Our Production:
Confluence Ballet’s Jazz Nutcracker reimagines Tchaikovsky’s timeless holiday classic with bold flair. The iconic score is heard through Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s legendary jazz adaptation. On stage, classical ballet blends seamlessly with a jazzy, contemporary twist to create a vibrant retelling of Clara’s magical adventure. This production is truly genre-bending, featuring collaborations with the Pittsburgh Pride Choir, members of Pittsburgh’s queer line dancing club 412 Step, and a host of local artists across styles—including circus performers and martial artists. The result is a kaleidoscope of music, dance, and spectacle that joyfully breaks tradition while honoring it. Inclusive, inventive, and alive with imagination, Jazz Nutcracker offers a holiday experience that is both warm and wondrous: a celebration of community, artistry, and the power of storytelling through many forms.
Calling all dancers ages 5–18!
Confluence Ballet Co. is holding auditions for youth performers to join our upcoming production of The Jazz Nutcracker. This is a unique opportunity for young dancers to take the stage alongside our professional company in a reimagined holiday favorite filled with rhythm, character, and holiday magic.
Whether you're an experienced performer or stepping into your first Nutcracker role, we welcome dancers of all backgrounds to audition. This is your chance to be part of a vibrant community production and perform in one of Pittsburgh’s most exciting holiday events!

at Improvement Thru Movement in Bethel Park.
Tech Rehearsal on Thursday, December 10th and Dress rehearsal on December 11th at Kelly Strayhorn Theater from 4-9pm**.
*Youth artists will only be required for one hour during this time period, depending on their casting.
**Youth participants will not be required to stay for the entire 5 hours, specific call times will be announced closer to the dates.
